This project, designed under her alias the Counter Narrative Society (CNS), is a fabric replica of a prison cell. The work functions as tactical device to address solitary confinement in ways that the object dissolves into an awareness of the participant’s body and brings attention to the complexity of the human-made world. The piece has been presented in a gallery, park, street, theater and university setting.
The SHU can be lend to anyone interested in creating a project that will encourage public dialogue about the psychological and physical violence prisoners are forced to experience in segregation housing units across the USA prison system. – [Contact CNS]
